“It is the show behind the curtain that I am fascinated with. The show of the rubber floor mats, napkins, gaffer tape, shelves, light structures, alcohol, bed sheets, instruments, storage spaces.
Life is a time based venue that hosts occasional shows. Going through it, the most extreme experience is an internal mechanism, orchestrated by the bartender, sound technician, lighting designer, busgirl, waitress, cleaning man, stage designer, drug dealer, your lover. They all have their tools. I seek these tools, that are hidden from perception, I import them into my art, building with them new sculptural environments, hoping to form a show that will move my viewer, while keeping my tools exposed.
In my work I am concerned with overwhelming states of invasion, transgression and deviation. Structures that embody a liminal state that is characterized by the tension between the visible dimension of excess and the material’s powerfully internal order.
I am interested in the memory that certain smells, sounds, materials and sculptural elements evoke in the viewer, triggers that unleash a personal experience that is tapped into a public space”
